OUR THEME

Milan Salone 2023 at ISOLA DESIGN GALLERY, members of the collective have ingeniously employed sustainable materials and cutting-edge technology to reimagine the timeless Japanese garden for contemporary settings.

Since ancient times, Japanese gardens have masterfully encapsulated the essence of the natural landscape, meticulously blending fundamental elements such as plants, water, and rocks. These serene sanctuaries evoke introspection and meditation, with each element thoughtfully imbued with profound symbolism and abstract representation, harmoniously merging art and nature.

[ Fragmented Landscape ]
Captures the spirit of plant life, offering a fresh interpretation of the ever-evolving panorama of the garden created by diverse vegetation. The landscape is fragmented through a Voronoi diagram lens, giving rise to a captivating, reconstructed image that blends tradition and innovation.

[ 5g stone ]
Embodies the essence of stone by utilizing traditional Japanese paper crafted from the Kozo bush. The natural composition not only renders it lightweight and eco-conscious, but also allows for its seamless return to the earth. Recently gaining acclaim, this time-honored material shines for its positive influence on local biodiversity and its promising role as a regenerative resource.

[ Sphere ]
Playing with the element of light, this piece is composed of traditional Japanese paper. A line spreads over the whole surface and transforms from a line to a surface, and the components of the sphere change through the viewing angles. This ancient material has recently garnered attention for its positive impact on local biodiversity and its potential as a regenerative resource.

[ Drops ]
Symbolizes the element of water, presenting a dynamic waterscape that harnesses the innovative water-repellent textile technology pioneered by UK startup AMPHICO. Eschewing the toxic PFAS-based chemical coatings commonly found in conventional water-repellent fabrics, AMPHICO's textile is free from harmful chemicals and designed with complete circularity in mind.
